The Lynch Foundation

The Lynch Foundation

History

Established by Carolyn and Peter Lynch in 1987, the Lynch Foundation provides assistance to programs primarily in Massachusetts with an emphasis on education; culture and historic preservation; healthcare and medical research; and religious and educational efforts of the Roman Catholic Church. Carolyn Lynch is President and Chief Executive Office of The Foundation. Under Carolyn’s leadership and with a total investment of $17.25 million from Carolyn and Peter Lynch, the foundation has granted more than $50 million to more than 200 organizations.

Philosophy

The Lynch Foundation’s philanthropic strategy includes viewing a gift as an investment. In choosing charities, the foundation has found that both innovative ideas and strong leadership leads to success. For example, the foundation was one of the original investors in City Year and one of the initial foundations to fund Partners in Health, the organization founded by Dr. Paul Farmer which is responsible for dramatic breakthroughs in the treatment of Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculoses. Through organizations like Renew International; a program in the Catholic Church that strengthens parishes by enhancing spirituality and revitalizing laity involvement in the activities life, the Foundation seeks to identify and support charitable organizations that are sustainable and have the potential to multiply and serve the largest constituencies. The founders and trustees are committed to seeing the foundation’s resources used to the best advantage, awarding grants that are aligned with their mission and serve as a catalyst.

Mission

The Lynch Foundation is a charitable trust managed by an Executive Director in conjunction with its volunteer Board of Trustees, President and Founders. The Foundation is deeply committed to Our Mission and representative supported organizations. The relationship between The Lynch Foundation and its grant recipients extends far beyond one of financial assistance. It is a partnership. We have structured our application process to allow a deep understanding of each potential grantee’s mission, goals, and needs.
